Lift stations, also called pumping stations, contain pumps, valves, and electrical equipment necessary to move liquids (usually water, wastewater, or sewage) from low to high elevation. They may be used to overcome inadequate head, to provide easy-to-install pumping solutions, or to provide economic alternatives to other pumping options. For example, wastewater may be transported by elevating it first (using a lift station) and letting it flow through a system by gravity. This may be more economical than installing pumps to move the fluid in the system itself.

Lift Stations 101

Key elements of lift stations include a waste-water receiving well, often equipped with a screen or grinding to remove coarse materials; pumps and piping with associated valves; motors; a power supply system; an equipment control and alarm system; and an odor control system and ventilation system.  Lift station equipment and systems are often installed in an enclosed structure. They can be constructed on-site (custom-designed) or prefabricated.

In standard septic systems, gravity is used to flow the sewage from the home to the septic tank, and then to the leach field. When the sewage needs to be pumped because the tank or leach field is at higher ground.septic pumps are also used to pump sewage into the city sewer, when the street sewer line is higher than the home sewage line. Septic Lift Stations fill with sewage to a certain level, then the pump turns on and the sewage is pumped on to the next stage.

Line Jetting...you need it, we offer it!

What Is High Pressure Sewer Jetting

High pressure sewer jetting is method of cleaning sewer & drain lines using high pressure water. An engine or other power source powers a high pressure water pump that produces water under pressure. All high pressure jetting units are rated as to Pressure (PSI) and Water Flow (GPM); both a direct result of the available engine's horsepower.

Water from the high pressure pump is delivered to a hose reel containing high pressure jetting hose matched for the pressure and flow of the system. When a nozzle is attached to the end of the jetting hose, pressure is created within the system. Nozzles are sized to match the design out of the engine & water pump plus factoring pressure loss due the diameter and length of the high pressure jetting hose. Every nozzle is designed to direct high pressure streams of water to pull the high pressure jetting hose through a pipe. Angles of the water stream can be varied; water streams directed more toward the pipe wall surfaces produce better cleaning results while diminishing the pulling power of the nozzle. Water streams directed towards the centerline of the pipe provide maximum pulling power but decreases pipe wall cleaning effectiveness.

Clearing Clogged Sewer Lines

To clear a clogged sewer line, a nozzle with a forward jet(s) is used. Forward jet(s) only use a small proportion of the total GPM to bore through a blockage with a minimal loss of propulsion. The forward jet is design to bore into the blockage to allow the rear jets with more flow to remove the bulk or remainder of the blockage. Note that a forward jet(s) may have reduced flow per orifice compared to the rear nozzle orifices; the pressure (PSI) is always the same at all orifices.
