Lift station Pump out service!

Wet wells are the holding sump for gravity-flow sewer systems. As sewage enters the wet well and the water level rises, pumps are engaged to pump out the sewage to a forced main, or the sewage is lifted to a higher grade to continue the gravity flow to the outlet point. Solid material will accumulate in the bottom of the wet well and incoming sewage lines.

Lift stations are low points in a gravity-flow sewer system where incoming sewage is pumped from a well to a higher grade to continue the gravity flow to the treatment plant. As solid material, such as rags, enter the lift station, buildup will occur on the bottom of the well and in other components within the station. Solid materials can often plug or damage pump impellers, so periodic cleaning is required to remove the solid material from the lift station.

We love lift stations!

Crucial Steps for Maintaining your lift Station:
  1. Wet wells should be pumped out and cleaned at least twice a year, or more often if necessary, to prevent solids and grease build-up. Build-up of solids can create gases that can damage the pump, or sink and get caught in the impeller.
  2. Inspection of submersible pumps should be performed quarterly. Inspection of the impeller should be performed quarterly or when motor hours are not within specifications. The inspections would assure that the impeller is free of debris or any other clogging material.
  3. Inspection and greasing of the check valves should be performed at least twice a year to insure proper working order and to prevent back-flow from the force main to the wet well.
  4. Cleaning and inspections of floats four times a year assure proper performance. The buildup of grease prevents floats from working properly.
  5. Inspection of the light and alarm systems should be performed weekly. An alarm system in working order can alert you to problems immediately.

Lift stations need love too...

  1. Wet wells pumped out and pressure washed at least twice a year, or more often if necessary, to prevent solids and grease build-up. Build-up of solids can create odors and damage the pumps.
  2. Pull and inspect submersible pumps taking close note of the condition of the impeller and suction port. Worn impellers create more runtime on the pumps, consuming more energy than necessary and causing premature failure of the pump motor.
  3. Inspection of check valves to prevent back flow from the force main to the wet well.
  4. Clean and inspect floats to insure proper performance. The buildup of grease prevents floats from working properly.
  5. Inspect and exercise the electrical control panel, including the light and alarm systems. Thermography will be used to determine if motor starters and circuit breakers are performing properly and to identify poor connections.
  6. Note and record hours from hour meters on each motor to provide an accurate record of how often each pump is cycling. Differences in run times greater than 10% may be an indication of a problem with one of the pumps.
  7. Amp and voltage readings will be taken on each pump motor and recorded. If the amp readings do not meet the manufacturer's specifications, it could be an indication that debris is lodged in the impeller, or that water has entered the motor housing. Early detection of either symptom can save the pump motor from catastrophic failure.
  8. Perform a Megohm test on the pump motors to determine the condition of the motor winding insulation. By utilizing regular Megohm testing, a base line reading can be established and used over time to determine if the windings are deteriorating, eliminating the chance of catastrophic failure and wet well downtime.
  9. Record and document all findings, present a written report to the owner after each maintenance period, and post the reports to the Internet on a secure server for safe keeping and instant access 24/7/365.

A clean lift station is a happy lift station

What to look for when lift station is clean.Your lift station should be free of grease and debris on the bottom. Your equipment, floats and rails should be pressure washed and cleaned. If you are available you should inspect the bottom to make sure all of the debris is removed from the floor. Ask for a picture of the clean lift station if you are not available to look at it.  Remember once the waste is removed there will be a waste manifest generated that you are required to keep for your records. Once the vacuum truck operator leaves your site with that waste he must dump the waste somewhere. You can ask for a copy of the manifest with a stamp from the disposal site it was dumped at. This may be obtained by request.

We will make you a happy customer, every single time!

Lift station: The basics

Lift station basics
Lift stations are large concrete holes in the ground (typically round) that all of your waste drains into. Once the waste lands in your lift
station and collects,  powerful grinder pumps (redundancy is important) pump your waste up to the main city line. The pump is triggered
by floats that turn on the pump much the same way as the float in your toilet turns off  the water in your tank.  Think of your lift station as
a elevator for waste.

The central purpose of a lift station is to remove waste from your property by pumping waste from a site that is below grade up to a city
sewer line.

Lift station Emergency Pump Out Services

Sewage lift stations are a necessary component in most wastewater systems. These stations
provide the pumping necessary to raise liquids from lower elevations to higher elevations. Due
to the environmental impact of SSOs, lift station pumping must be reliable and continuous –
including the ability to respond to varying flow demands regardless of day, hour, or availability
of electricity.

Pump Outs Unlimited: We love our customers!

Operators of sewerage systems know that grease and FOG in lift stations is a major problem. The grease obstructs floats and reduces the life of pumps leading to SSO's and a need for frequent service. Obstruction by grease is the most prevalent cause of force main backups and sewage overflows, costing the industry billions of dollars annually. The majority of sewer line blockages are caused by grease build-up as opposed to debris. Call us at 305.620.7005 for a proposal for the pump out of your lift station!

Pump Outs Unlimited wants your lift station.

Lift station pumps are used for pumping waste water or sewage from a lower to higher elevation, either where the elevation of the source is not sufficient for gravity flow or when the use of gravity will result in excessive excavation.

These units can be built as a factory assembled fiberglass package system or a concrete type system. Key elements of lift/pump stations include a waste water treatment receiving well equipped with lift pumps and piping with valves, a junction box, and an equipment control panel with alarm system.

Lift stations accumulate waste, if the lift statin well is not pumped out every so often, the pumps in the lift station will be damaged. Before this happens, call us at 305.620.7005 and we will pump out your lift station.

Cleaning and pumping out lift stations.

Cleaning is required when you start to see grease caking up on walls or floats. Once you see the first signs of grease floating in your lift  station  you need to start monitoring your lift station regularly to determine a cleaning schedule. Many apartment complexes find that a 90 day cleaning schedules keeps them from having problems. Others prefer to wait until a plumber is out fixing burned up pumps.

Servicing your equipment regularly prevents problems!

WHAT ARE LIFT STATIONS?

Waste-water lift stations are facilities designed to move waste-water from lower to higher elevation, particularly where the elevation of the source is not sufficient for gravity flow and/or when the use of gravity conveyance will result in excessive excavation depths and high sewer construction costs.
Lift stations are used to reduce the capital cost of sewer system construction.  When gravity sewers are installed in trenches deeper than three meters (10 feet), the cost of sewer line installation increases significantly because of the more complex and costly excavation equipment and trench shoring techniques required.  The size of the gravity sewer lines is dependent on the minimum pipe slope and flow.  Pumping waste-water can convey the same flow using smaller pipeline size at shallower depth, and thereby, reducing pipeline costs.

Lift station Maintenance on a monthly basis

LIFT STATIONS
Lift stations as a requirement in some counties must service be serviced and maintained on a monthly basis. Pump, control and structural manufactures also require that these systems are maintained in order to comply with guarantee policies. It is extremely essential for a lift station to be serviced no less than once per month in order to keep it running efficiently. Call us 305.620.7005!
